Nissan Gives A 23-Year-Old Concept A 2025 Makeover

  • Nissan has updated the Micra 350SR concept to help promote the sixth-generation model.
  • The car features revised styling and an updated interior with a new infotainment system.
  • The powertrain appears to carryover and this means we can expect a 3.5-liter V6 with 300 hp.

If you’ve completely forgotten about the Micra 350SR concept, you’re not alone as the one-off model was introduced 23 years ago to celebrate the car’s racing pedigree in Japan. However, it’s back in the news as Nissan decided to celebrate its Ni-San anniversary by giving the hot hatch the restomod treatment.

adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106-c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”);
} else {

}
});

As part of this effort, Nissan Design Europe decided to bring the 2002 Micra up to date visually. The most noticeable change is a set of LED headlights that have semi-circular daytime running lights, which recall those found on the sixth-generation model.

Besides the lights, the car has been given an eye-catching exterior that combines satin liquid silver with blue accents. They’re joined by gloss black flourishes and refurbished 18-inch RAYS wheels. Rounding out the highlights are new graphics inspired by the ‘=III 23’ iconography found on the upcoming Micra and Leaf.

The makeover continues inside as the car has been equipped with new seats and harnesses as well as an infotainment system. The latter looks a little tacked on, but it features a 9-inch display as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Nissan noted it allows drivers to stream music through the car’s new speakers.

The updated 350SR will celebrate its debut tomorrow and the powertrain appears to carryover untouched. This means we can expect a 3.5-liter V6 engine sourced from a Murano. However, it’s also been equipped with headers from a 350Z, a modified ECU, as well as high-lift cams and an induction system from NISMO. This gave the original 2,646 lb (1,200 kg) car an impressive 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS).
